I am SHOCKED that there isn't a huge outcry from the Cinematographers of the world, cause yeah— you lose at least 1 or 2 f-stops worth of light when you put those glasses on. I hate it. Also, I wear glasses, but not contacts and I have to wear the 3d glasses over my real ones,, which further complicates things. » 7/08/14 9:48am 7/08/14 9:48am

The big mistake than Lindelof makes isn't that he doesn't answer questions, its that he forces us to ask the questions THEN doesn't answer them. If it was just a big question mark, I can live with that. Story as the result of the mystery is fine. But when his characters start to question the mystery and put the notion… » 6/30/14 4:43pm 6/30/14 4:43pm

I've always felt the animated series Batman from the 90s was the best. There's three types of Batman stories— superhero, gadget/science hero, and noir /detective. The Animated series was one of the view versions of Batman that managed all three equally. The Arkham games are the grown up version of the Animated series,… » 6/24/14 6:52pm 6/24/14 6:52pm

If Rob just did this thing I wouldn't mind. I take issue with the fact that as a source of material he's a very mixed bag. I understand that io9 is a blog technically, but it's grown into being a news outlet— they get press releases, do early reviews, etc. While news outlets have room for an editorial voice, I find… » 6/23/14 10:28pm 6/23/14 10:28pm

Bob Iger promised shareholders a movie and they already pushed once for the target release date, no way they will again. What little leaks there have been from Pinewood of memos and comments about schedule say that thus far no new pages are needed and only minor schedule shifts have happened. I don't think his part is… » 6/23/14 2:58pm 6/23/14 2:58pm

The originals were consistent in visual style despite different directors. Funny enough, it was Lucas with Episode 2 that suddenly broke the rules by adding hand held shots, POVs and dream sequences. I'm sure they'll do how TV shows do and make sure there is a visual bible. Or maybe the DP will remain for all three. » 6/20/14 12:37pm 6/20/14 12:37pm

You're half right. The site is not for profit, the operator started running ads to pay for hosting and bandwidth. Ikea sees that as making money off their products. Everyone is annoyed because the money that site makes from ads is minimal, and if anything, the hacks make more people go out and buy Ikea products. The… » 6/18/14 1:49pm 6/18/14 1:49pm

This is one reason why I'm a Marvel guy— most all their heroes went public years ago and never looked back. Secret identities (and villains obsessed with knowing them) are such an old, dated trope up there with underwear on the outside of comics (which DC has only recently started to let go of)! Why stop at Batman.… » 6/16/14 1:20pm 6/16/14 1:20pm
